Hi everyone,
Welcome to our new subscribers!
We grew our subscriber base 80% since last week, all due to your referrals & feedback. Keep the feedback coming, call me out on typos, & let me know how I can create more value for you & other founders!
For new subscribers: The Premoney list is very simple. The goal is to provide founders a platform to promote their work, & tech lovers, angels and sales people like yourselves with a list of fresh up-in-coming companies to get involved with.
An interview with Taylor Neiman, CEO of Toucan.
Last week I mentioned that Toucan (featured in the Premoney List 2) announced a $3.3M seed raise to expand their learning platform. Toucan CEO, Taylor Neiman, and I jumped on the phone to talk about the 0-1, their new approach to education & the long vision of Toucan. See highlights on that conversation below.
On this weeks’ list:
10 Companies
60% female or bipoc founders
An (already) beloved no-code platform
Unique takes on wellness & enterprise value
If you’d like to contact any of these companies directly, reply to me and I’ll put you in touch with the founders.
This weeks Highlights:
Pory: Is a mainstay in the NoCode movement, but is expanding their reach. The founders Samantha Wong & Luannie Dang built Pory to enable people to build a dynamic CMS-driven website for their business in less than 15 minutes. If you have data in Airtable, you can use Pory’s templates to build a fully functioning website with Airtable as your backend.
OnlyTweets: Riding the tailwinds of the passion & creator economy, OnlyTweets has a goal of enabling popular microbloggers on Twitter to monetize their worth. OnlyTweets is the latest drop from Stir, who’s founders believe that creators who spend time crafting and developing their brand deserve to realize that value.
Notes from an interview with Taylor Neiman:
Taylor and her cofounders Brandon & Shaun, launched Toucan only a few months ago with the goal of helping people learn in a new way. They’ve grown to 20K+ active users since launching. Toucan is a browser extension, which picks out specific words whatever site you’re on, and translates those words to the language of your choice so you can read & learn in context.
Why a browser extension?
Every thing you use is competing for your time. The Toucan team opted not to compete against Netflix, the New York Times or Facebook for minutes, but rather to meet people where they already are. Integrating “micro-moments of learning” into your everyday activity is an easy habit to form while providing powerful context for learning.
Why start with language?
Taylor (who has learned 4 languages and counting), & her team are all avid travelers & care about building something that can have a widespread cultural impact. They understand that language is the foundation for culture & is something that impacts peoples everyday lives.
What is next?
Language made sense to start, but Toucan plans to expand to building micro-moments of learning for any avocation that people want to learn: History, Math, Physics, Art etc.
Please try Toucan out, and email Taylor (Taylor.Neiman@jointoucan.com) with your thoughts & feedback. #FeedbackisaGift
